A Tulips & Tapers Spring Tablescape

I kid you not. There was still glitter and metallic foil confetti in the cracks of our dining room table from Christmas when I went to spruce it up for Spring! After a(nother) good wipe down, a few new table linens, some thrifted finds and my go-to dinnerware and flatware, the table was looking oh-so-fresh again! A Tulips and Tapers Spring Tablescape was underway!

If you’re joining me from Domestic Charm, then welcome! I’m so happy you popped over here to take a peek at our dining room table all dressed and ready for a spring soiree. And if you can’t already tell…there is no shortage of tulips or tapers here! There may also be a plethora of patterns. How many can you spy?!

Let’s see… stripes, scallops and polka-dots to name a few ๐Ÿ™‚ Keep reading to learn where I found the inspiration for my table and how it all came together…

TULIPS AND TAPERS SPRING TABLESCAPE: THE INSPIRATION

The table came together pretty easily after I scooped up the assortment of pink, peach and golden yellow tapers at the thrift store. These colors served as the inspiration and can even be found in the DIY framed fabric art that was already hanging on the wall! I knew I could stagger the tapers across the table using my hoarded collected stash of brass taper holders. I had only used them in groupings of 2 or 3 before, but was excited at the idea of mixing and matching the different styles and heights to create part of the centerpiece.

TULIPS AND TAPERS SPRING TABLESCAPE: BRINGING MY VISION TO LIFE

First, I laid down my table runner and then started scattering the tapers across it. I played around with the set-up a bit, but ultimately separated them into 3 “groups”. A cluster in the middle, and then added 2 more to the left and 2 more to the right. Then, I placed a dozen tulips [a mix of pale pink and variegated orange] in each of the 2 round glass vases in between.

Oh and I had a random black taper that I decided to plop right in the center of the table because…why not?!

From there, I set out the deep mustard colored round placemats from HomeGoods, along with the pastel damask napkins I found there. I grabbed our everyday dinner plates from the kitchen cabinets and pulled out these fun metallic abstract dessert plates and put them on top.A Spring Tablescape with Tulips & Tapers | Spring Tablescape Hop | This is our Bliss

On the ends, I went for a slightly different look than the rest of the place-settings. A gold foil polka dot napkin lays across the plate, an egg-shaped appetizer plate rests on it and then I finished it off with my favorite striped napkins! They’re so versatile! I pretty much use them all throughout the year! I wanted a simple look, but just can’t help myself when it comes to mixing prints!

The host and hostess need a pop of personality on their ends, right?

There is rarely a time when I’m not up for a good game of pattern play! But, I did simplify by opting to forgo glasses and place-cards, as I really wanted the “centerpiece” to steal the show!

Mission accomplished, wouldn’t you agree?!

Fresh flowers are so welcoming and instant mood-boosters for me, but there is something about a tulip that gives me a double-dose of happiness. They scream, “Bring on Spring!” Even if Chicago weather doesn’t feel the need to comply. Even last week, we went from 75 degrees one day to 35 the next. I mean, it’s late March. Please get your act together out there!!

Oh and if you’ve been eyeing gold flatware, but don’t want to fork over the big bucks [see what I did there ;], then you’ll be as thrilled as I was to know you can buy these individual pieces at $2 a pop! I picked up 6 knives, forks and spoons to test them out and see how I liked them. Now that I know how much I LOVE them, I’ll probably snag a few more sets in case we ever open up the table and use the leaves. Maybe I’ll even get crazy and host the holidays this year!?

Rachael this is such a beautiful spring tablescape! I love how you kept the dinnerware neutral against the colorful tulips, tapers, floral napkins and mixing it with black and white stripes! What a beautiful dinning room too, love that light fixture!

Oh thank you, Sarah!! I loved putting this table together and using some color. I tend to lean towards neutrals the majority of the time, but spring calls for a bright, fresh palette!
