Happy Monday and welcome to Day 1 of my 4 Days of Festive & Frugal 4th of July Ideas series! Each day, I’ll be sharing a simple and inexpensive way to add a little red, white and blue flair to your 4th of July holiday festivities. Whether you’re hosting or joining family and friends for a barbecue, these ideas won’t take long to prepare and certainly won’t break the bank! First up, are these Raspberry & Blueberry Ice Cubes. This concept doesn’t need much of a tutorial, but I’ll quickly walk you through what I did and what I put them in 😉

I found this round-ish ice cube mold tray at Dollar Tree and decided it would be fun to use instead of the traditional square cubed trays.

Simply put one blueberry or raspberry in each opening, fill with water and freeze. I set the tray right on top of our automatic ice cube maker bin and let freeze overnight.

When getting ready for guests, you can make enough raspberry and blueberry cubes to last through your whole party or just enough for each guest to have a cocktail with. I filled my new favorite pineapple dish with the fruity cubes and thought it might make sense to fill an ice bucket of regular cubes, too.

Now for a quick recipe!

SPARKLING RED WHITE & BLUE COCKTAIL

1 ounce of vodka
12 ounces of Sparkling Ice drink [I like the Black Raspberry and the Pomegranate flavors]
5-6 raspberry & blueberry ice cubes

No, this post isn’t sponsored by Ice, but Target has bottles on sale for 80 cents this week! Another cocktail option, which would show off the cubes a bit more [since the drink itself is clear] would be:

1 ounce of Raspberry Stoli or Raspberry Belvedere
12 ounces of soda water
splash of cranberry juice [optional]
5-6 raspberry & blueberry cubes

And you can most certainly use these festive, fruity cubes with mocktails or in glasses of regular or sparkling water. A simple touch that is festive and refreshing for all ages! I’m already brainstorming different things to freeze in ice cube trays for each holiday! I mean… there isn’t anything wrong with regular ice cubes, but why not sweeten them up a bit!?

Don’t forget to pin for later!
