I’m so ready to get this week moving and share so many new and exciting things with you! It’s going to be a fun, jam-packed, super inspiring week here on the blog and it all starts today with another round of Inspired by DIY. This month’s theme, West Elm, is one of my very favorite home decor stores, so selecting an item to “be inspired by” and create something similar on my own…was, well, let’s just say…difficult. I’m always eyeing their catalog and usually have a wish list at least 20 items deep and my DIY short-list was about the same 😉
If you’ve been around here long enough then you know my love for throw pillows runs deep. Buying them, making them, switching them from room to room, it all makes my happy! When I first spotted this West Elm pillow online, I was instantly drawn to it…because…pillows!
Hi there! It feels so amazing to be able to jump back into our monthly Inspired by DIY challenge each 3rd Thursday of the month after sitting out from last month’s Urban Outfitters challenge. If you haven’t been by the blog since since May’s Eddie Ross challenge, then I can tell you a lot has happened! I announced the move, then we actually did it and now I’m working to turn the once empty house into a home. A few rooms have freshly painted walls and are more than ready for some lovin’.
If you’re anything like me, the standard picture frame or framed piece of art, can feel overused in a space, so I’m always looking for new and different types of things to hang on the wall. Don’t get me wrong, I still love a gallery wall, but when I spotted this Forged Metal Sculpture, an idea for a DIY popped into my head. So, I went at it! Continue reading →
When we kicked off this monthly Inspired by DIY Challenge in February with Kate Spade, I knew I was going to have fun with it — with fabulous designer themes each month, new projects for our home and doing it with such a talented and creatively inspiring group. I mean, how could it not be a blast?!

This month we are pulling inspiration from Mr. Modern Mix himself — Eddie Ross! He flawlessly combines thrifted antique gems, with chic, classic pieces and then tops it off with a brilliant, modern spin. He style is fearless, fun and exceptionally inspiring! Not to mention, his signature “looks” can be achieved by incorporating frugal, second-hand finds in order to keep styling and accessorizing on budget.
This month 6 of us selected an item from Anthropologie that inspired us to create a similar item of our own! If you’ve ever browsed Anthro’s website or milled around in the store, you know that it is filled with some of the most gorgeous home decor pieces…aaaaannnd most of them are pretty pricey. There are a few Anthropologie items that I love, like their capri blue candle—I always keep a couple on hand AND they have some of the best selection of hardware around, none of which I have pooled up enough cash money to purchase, though!
But nonetheless, their merchandise is incredibly unique and simply beautiful. When I laid eyes on Anthropologie’s Butterfly Joint Frame, I knew I wanted to tackle it on my own! It sort of reminded me of a Kate Spade piece, which was our very first Inspired by DIY theme. [Check out my KS inspired vase here!]
