A little bit about Me

Hi, my name is Rachael and welcome to my blog!  I decided to take the plunge and start a simple blog to document my love & passion for DIY projects, home décor & design, attempts at being crafty in the kitchen and of course, my 2 everything’s (soon to be 3).  These so-called “everything’s” are my husband, 19 month old son, Henry and our little bun in the oven!  Yep.  You got it.  We are planning to welcome our 2nd stud muffin in May of this year and I am over the moon excited to meet him.  He is a big reason I finally decided to whip up a few blog posts and get this thing movin’ along!  I am in the process of designing little man’s nursery and thought it would be fun to capture my ideas and progress along the way to share with family and friends.  Stay tuned for more on this…

I am currently a stay-at-home mom and it has been in these last 2 years that I have been given the opportunity to explore my creative side (mostly during naptime 🙂 I can no longer say the plural form of naptime because Henry ditched his 2nd nap the week of his 1st birthday… dang!  Although the majority of my day revolves around books, puzzles, blocks, tunnels, forts, stuffed animals, Cheerios, sippy cups and diapers, I do try to keep the house clean and a meal on the table!  I enjoy photography, all things black & white, fashion, fun accessories, red wine, reading, vacationing, watching movies, anything in or involving tortilla shells, deep dish pizza and quiet nights at home with the hubs & little dude.  Becoming a mom was the best thing that has ever happened to me and I would not change one thing about it.  I love being home with Henry and am anxious to learn what life will be like at home with 2 of them during the day!

Below is a recent family maternity photo taken in January of this year.

Backstory

I was born and raised in Waterloo, IA where my parents still reside.  After attending the University of Iowa and receiving my Bachelor’s in Business Management, I moved to the big city of Chicago and started working in the real world, as they say.  A year or so later, I met the man who would one day become my husband.  The year was 2008 and we fell madly in love.  A few short months later,  he was suddenly asked to relocate from Chicago to Indianapolis for work.  At the time, we were “secretly dating” as our company had a very strict no interoffice dating policy.  He decided to make the move and a few months later we told our bosses about our relationship and 6 months after that, I took the leap of faith to join him in Indiana.  We lived in Fishers, IN for less than 2 years before he received a promotion which took us back to Chicagoland only a mere 2 weeks after our wedding and honeymoon in the summer of 2011.  To wrap this story up, it is safe to say these last few years have been a whirlwind…a wedding, 2 moves and 2 babies!  We currently reside in the southwest suburbs of Chicago and have called this house our home for almost 2 years now.  I’ll be sharing more photos and several projects we have tackled since settling in.
