Estate Sale Saturday

So this past weekend, we had 2 kids’ birthday parties to go to – one Saturday and one Sunday and ironically, one Minnie Mouse & the other Mickey Mouse themed! We, especially Henry had a ball. Its great to be able to see & catch up with old friends and especially celebrate with their little ones! Aside from those festivities, my girlfriend, Haley and I set out on Saturday morning to do a little shopping. It wasn’t a typical weekend shopping excursion for either of us. We decided we were going to scope out and obviously, conquer our first estate sale! The website, http://www.estatesales.net/ lists all estate sales in a given area including dates & times of the sale and sometimes, even pictures of the goods. After browsing the site, we decided on one particular estate sale that was conveniently located and planned to head out on Saturday morning.

Walking in completely unaware of what to expect, a woman greeted us at the door to let us know everything was 50% off of the sticker price since it was the 3rd and final day of the sale – score! We meandered around and after popping into one of the upstairs rooms, we spotted 2 small children’s rocking chairs. After agreeing it was a safe “first purchase”, we toted the chairs downstairs and set them by the check-out area so we could quickly sweep the main floor. No gems there, so we paid for our chairs and made our way to the car. Of course we asked a kind gentlemen to take our picture to document our first estate sale appearance and first estate sale finds! Who knows? Maybe this will become a regular activity!

We have big plans for our little chairs and hopefully future furniture finds as well 🙂

In other furniture news, my first upholstery class is this week and I am bringing my lovely green cane chair and 2 small footstools to start with. Yes! A class! A friend mentioned awhile back she was taking an upholstery class with a great woman and it just so happened to be located super close to my house. Timing worked out perfectly, so I signed up & mailed my check – I feel like I totally lucked out! I have been wanting to take a class for such a long time and if you remember, it was one of my 2015 goals. check, check!

I am working on loads of new projects around here, so hopefully the rest of this month is jam-packed with fun & inspiring stuff! I’ll be sharing the details of my new stools and plenty more this week. Trying to find my 2015 blogging groove 🙂 Happy Monday!

First class last night! I think I’m going to love it! You should totallt try to find one in your area. Mine is in the basement of one of our local high schools… I guess the class has been taught there for over 20 years?!
