Another Inspired by DIY is HERE!
This month 6 of us selected an item from Anthropologie that inspired us to create a similar item of our own! If you’ve ever browsed Anthro’s website or milled around in the store, you know that it is filled with some of the most gorgeous home decor pieces…aaaaannnd most of them are pretty pricey. There are a few Anthropologie items that I love, like their capri blue candle—I always keep a couple on hand AND they have some of the best selection of hardware around, none of which I have pooled up enough cash money to purchase, though!
But nonetheless, their merchandise is incredibly unique and simply beautiful. When I laid eyes on Anthropologie’s Butterfly Joint Frame, I knew I wanted to tackle it on my own! It sort of reminded me of a Kate Spade piece, which was our very first Inspired by DIY theme. [Check out my KS inspired vase here!]

So today, I’m sharing my black & gold embellished mirror that was Anthropologie inspired!
This was probably one of the easiest DIY’s to date. I know I say if often, but this one might take the cake.

Instead of a wood frame, I opted to use a black mirror I had on hand, which was in my frame collection, still in its packaging. I searched at Michaels for a metal “bow” of some sort, but came up short. When I spotted a pack of bow stickers, I thought they just might work….

I simply poured a little of my liquid leaf into the cap and dipped my foam brush in it to coat the edge. Then I brushed over 2 of the stickers a couple of times, waved the sheet of stickers dry and after 5 minutes, I peeled the gilded ones off and placed them at the top and bottom of the frame around the mirror.

That’s it!
Does it get any easier?!

I’ve been into layering lately—frames, art, mirrors, etc. so thought it might make a cute addition to the floating shelf in our master bedroom. I just finished this room in March and am already switching things around. This is definitely the norm, though. #canthelpmyself

It’s not real brass or even any sort of metal and I never would have thought to add a simple sticker to a frame, but you know me and that g word. If it shimmers and shines, its all mine!
So simple – Anthropologie inspired frame in under 5 minutes!

A big shout out to Jess from Domicile 37 for putting this challenge together. It pushes me to think outside the box and create something beautiful for my home, typically at a fraction of the cost of the real-deal! Plus it’s a treat to see what the others come up with each month, too!
Now, please, PLEASE head on over to the other 5 blogs to see how they created their Anthropologie inspired pieces this time around!
