A Touch of Spring in the Entryway

A Touch of Spring in the Entryway - Simple Spring styling on the entryway table - This is our Bliss

The only kind of fever that I anxiously await each year – Spring fever! The bug has hit and I’m okay with it! I don’t go wild with Spring decor around here, but I do love the idea of Spring touches! Last week I shared 11 Simple Ways to Freshen up Your Home For Spring and I recently took a bit of my own advice and added a Touch of Spring in the Entryway. Oftentimes, it’s really just about adding a certain *pop* of color! Come and take a look.

I always joke that with a house full of boys [3 littles & 1 big ;)], I wish I could get away with more pink throughout our home. While I don’t have any pink in any of the boys’ rooms [big boy rooms or nursery], I have started to splash it in the Master bedroom with blush sheets, the Powder Room with a vanity and I’m working on a pink art gallery wall in the Laundry Room. But for the main living areas, a vase of pink flowers, especially in the Spring time, gives me all the fix I need!

It just seems like wherever you plop a vase of pink flowers, Spring is in the room! Am I right?!

When it came time to put a touch of Spring in the entryway, I knew flowers would be a safe bet to start with! And then work my way from there.

And to be honest, I really didn’t do a whole lot from there!

Remember. Simple is the plan I’m rolling with!

A PEEK AT A TOUCH OF SPRING IN THE ENTRYWAY

I recently gave our old [like, very old Craig’s List find before we were married] console table a quick makeover. The table was in great shape, but it was an espresso color which felt too dark and heavy in the foyer. Although we have light walls, we also have bold, black interior doors and this table sits between a set of double-doors to the old playroom/my new office and the front door. I wanted something lighter and decided to go with a medium gray paint [DecoArt Satin Enamels in Smoke Grey – the same color I used on the Basement Guestroom dresser] and after 3 coats, it was looking so fresh and new!

It’s lighter, brighter and was very deserving of some new styling just in time for Spring! The baskets are from HomeGoods [similar baskets here] and the lamp is one I’m *borrowing* from my mom. Sometimes, when we are each purging our decor stash or closet, we’ll give things we’re tired of but can’t stand to part with to the other one. We promise we won’t get rid of it and that it’ll always make it’s way back to the original owner. It sort of counts as purging, right?! Either way I was happy to take it off her hands!

The lamp has been in storage in the basement for safe-keeping and after taking the table from dark brown to gray, it now has a new home in the entryway!

WHAT ELSE DID I DO TO THE SPACE TO BRING IN SOME SPRING!

I had this stack of coffee table books on the entryway table before it got it’s makeover. But I did add the book, Love, Life, Style to the top since it’s a really pretty blush pink color. The book is actually so faded out right now though! It’s been on coffee table in the sun-filled two-story window living room for too long, I guess! But it’s still a nice soft, neutral book to use in this vignette.

I found the ikat/leopard book on clearance at HomeGoods several years ago. It tends to come out from storage every now and then because I never seem to get tired of it! The bottom of the stack is one of my favorite thrifted book finds – The House Beautiful Books of Gardens and Outdoor Living. It’s a massive black book with gold text on the spine and I actually didn’t discover the black and gold until I removed the cover.

Quick tip: When thrifting books, always remember to peek under the cover. You might actually like the book better without it!

And we can’t pass over this little area without noting my recent DIY – these leopard print Easter eggs! Aren’t they the cutest?! They fit perfectly in a small glass bowl on top of the books and add a chic & subtle Easter vibe to the table.

At the other end of the table, I found this darling egg image in an online library and printed it out. I’ll have all the details on this cute little thing next week, so be on the lookout! I love that it’s such a subtle and sophisticated nod to Easter.

And there’s those pretty pink flowers all this fuss started with!

Sometimes a simple vase of flowers is the ONLY touch of Spring you need to add to your space!

And if they’re pink, then even better!

You really don’t have to go all out to give your space [big or small] a seasonal transformation. And you definitely don’t have to go and paint all your furniture! However if you have a couple of hours and a small can of paint, it would be well worth your time if you’re looking for a quick and inexpensive solution! My newly painted gray table paired with the pink flowers, cute egg art and DIY leopard eggs all make up the perfect touch of Spring in the Entryway!

I’m thrilled to have a new-ish spot in the house to decorate from season-to-season. I’ve only shown this little nook in a couple of posts [Christmas Living Room & Summer Home Tour], but have a feeling I’ll be styling it much more now with it’s new and improved look!

HOW I ADDED A TOUCH OF SPRING IN THE ENTRYWAY:

  • vase of flowers
  • bowl of decorative Easter eggs
  • Spring art
  • light-colored items [books, baskets, etc.]
  • keep it simple

Now be sure to head on down to the rest of the stops in the Seasonal Simplicity Spring Series!
