A Very Merry Holiday Home // Christmas Living Room & Dining Room Tour

Hello, hello! It’s time for another peek inside our home this season! Today, I’ve got two more holiday spruced spaces to share – our Christmas Living Room & Dining Room! Come on in and get cozy!

I’m honored to be a part of Marty from A Stroll Thru Life‘s Holiday Home Tour Week again this year. A big thanks to her for rounding up such a lovely group of ladies and for all of the work that goes into hosting a week of tours!

If you want to catch up on my Christmas Home Tours from years past, you can see them all here.

And my Full Christmas Gallery here – filled with gift guides, decorating inspiration, recipes, holiday cocktails & more.

If you’re stopping by from Our Southern Home, then welcome. I’m so glad you’re here! And if you are new to This is our Bliss, then hello! My name is Rachael and I’m the girl behind the lifestyle site where I share all things life, style, and home. My husband, 3 boys, and I moved from Illinois to Arizona last Summer, so I’ve been working my way around the house putting my touch on things.

It’s been such a joy decorating our new home for Christmas for the 2nd time. I think I’m starting to get into a holiday groove around here. Sometimes it takes a little while to figure out just how the trees look in each room and where the miscellaneous Christmas decor best fits.

Last week I shared how I added some holiday flare to our bedroom, which was so much fun since I just finished working on our Primary Bedroom for the Fall One Room Challenge. Now it feels like a “holiday retreat”!

And today I’m taking you into the Living Room & Dining Room all dressed up for the season!

Come take a peek inside…

CHRISTMAS LIVING ROOM

You guys! I didn’t put an ounce of red in our Living Room this year. I am a neutrals girl, through and through, but I usually can’t resist the urge for a pop of classic red when decorating for Christmas.

This year, I guess I exercised some restraint! All the neutrals & metallics landed on the tree, though – from black, ivory, gold, silver, pewter & copper – you’ll find it all.

I didn’t buy any new ornaments and haven’t for a couple of years now, so it still feels fresh and new when I look up at the tree. The sparkle & shine and glitz & glam get me every time.

Speaking of ornaments, it appears I have an unlimited supply. I probably used 20% fewer ornaments on the tree this year, so instead of leaving them in the storage box, I decided to use them in bowls & vessels around the house.

This brass hand usually holds matches, but I thought a handful of shimmering ornaments was exactly what this hand was meant to hold.

Such a simple and inexpensive vignette. I also added a candle and a vase of fresh flowers [just a random mix of grocery store flowers I put together] to my coffee table. I didn’t get carried away with trinkets & extra holiday decor. I saved that for my family room built-ins, ha!

I wanted to keep this space paired down a little bit and let the sparkling tree and glowing candles steal the show.

I’m proud to say I actually have some gifts wrapped already. I’m usually a last-minute wrapper, so my Christmas Tours are usually filled with empty trees or fake-wrapped presents. I don’t have time for that these days, so I decided to clear some of the delivery boxes from the entryway and make a dent. I already feel so much better having the first batch wrapped!

I’m hoping by taking the time to do some of these things in early December will help lighten my load the week of Christmas.

We’ll see how that goes! But I do feel like it’s helped take some of the stress away by ripping the bandaid and getting started.

Now on to the Dining Room…

CHRISTMAS DINING ROOM

Surprise! There is some RED in here!

Red in the Dining Room for Christmas - This is our Bliss

My Dining Room is most certainly festive and alive with touches of bright, bold red. It all started when I picked up these plaid placemats back in October.

I love putting together a tablescape, but especially a holiday table now that I finished our Dining Room earlier this year.

I pulled our everyday white dinner plates out and mixed solid black salad plates with patterned ones I picked up in the gift shop at Cooper’s Hawk.

I thought they were so cute. Red & black work so well together in my home this time of the year!

I decide to go the easy route with a large red poinsettia as the centerpiece. Instead of putting together a floral arrangement, I simply placed it this large ceramic planter. Its still one of my favorites – its so versatile!

A quick and easy centerpiece, but one that still makes a beautiful statement.

Another item I quickly put together is these little place cards. I ordered 2 sets of these wreath clips [on sale for $3.50!] and attached them to a small rectangular piece of cardstock paper.

I wrote each person’s name on the paper with a Sharpie and set them out on each placesetting.

They were almost too easy to even consider a DIY!

Other than the table, I kept everything else pretty simple, not changing much on my buffet table from the Fall.

I did add these LED twig branches to this white vase in place of the extra long pampas grass I had in a large cylinder vase.

I love the little glow they give off and I love that they are on a timer! The perfect twinkle late afternoon and into the evening hours.

Now that the table is set and ready, I just need to work on my Christmas menu! I love having a pretty table to look at all month long.

It really does feel festive & cozy in here – just missing friends and family in the chairs!

That’s all today for these 2 spaces. I’m so happy you were here to have a look around! Now make sure you head over to The Stonybrook House and tour Lori’s gorgeous home! The rest of the line-up of tours for the week is listed below.

Have fun hopping around and grabbing some holiday inspiration!

It’s so good and so you Rachael! Just beautiful. I love seeing how you use metallics and black every year and pops of red in the dining room are lovely. Also, I love your wrapping paper choices. I don’t know if I have ever put out 100% of my ornaments. lol

You sound like me with putting fewer ornaments on the tree. I did the same this year. I adore the neutral colors with gold and black in your living area! Such a gorgeous Christmas home.

Your home has turned into such a beautiful reflection of you. Love the living room with all the glitz and glamor on the tree. The dining room is fabulous with all the touches of red. Each place setting is so pretty and the little plates with a touch of red are so fun. Thanks so much for joining the tour again this season. Such a thrill to see how your new home is coming together.

Yes, I’m definitely inspired! I love your neutral decor mixed with black and a little red. The black is dramatic but also manages to feel cozy and welcoming too. What a beautiful tour!
