Spring One Room Challenge Finish line – check, CHECK! It’s time to shine the spotlight on the newest finished space in our home. Today is the Guestroom Reveal Day! Welcome back if you’ve been following along as I’ve plowed through the last 6 weeks working on our guestroom for the One Room Challenge with Calling it Home. If you’ve missed out on where we’ve been, have a peek below:
Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5

Creating this space was such a highly charged and inspirational process. The timeline, for starters, seemed quite lofty and the to-do list was miles long, which made for some highs and lows each working day in the room. The encouragement from readers and fellow participants was just what I needed to keep chugging along through those tough moments – so thank you! It was without a doubt, a CHALLENGE. no joke! This project pushed me creatively and it felt really, really good! I experimented with color, while sticking to what I like and know best: black, white and gold. I went a little wild with pattern play, crafted up a few eclectic gallery walls and took several personal design risks. Overall, it was seriously the coolest thing to be a part of! Thank you, Linda for hosting!

I will dish more on the finer details of everything you see today, including a source list & a few DIY tutorials in follow-up posts…

But now, let’s get to these photos, shall we?!

A lightly scented candle, fresh flowers and a water decanter & glasses make for a lovely nightstand for overnight company. Black & white framed photos I took white we were on vacation in Asheville, North Caroline a couple years ago flank the bed.

Some real greens to help make the room feel fresh. That’s a good thing in a guestroom, right?!

And the chair. Oh, the chair.

It was my first upholstery project: floral + houndstooth cane chair. I’ve shared several posts on how it came to be and I have to say, I think she is so perfect in here.

In case I haven’t said it enough, I’ll say it again now. This fabric selection nudged me into redoing this guestroom altogether! I just had this feeling I could do something fun with it. Mix old with new. Loud with soft. The chair and the room do this for me.

The gallery wall surrounding the chair is a blend of thrifted and new frames filled with personal photos, DIY art and handmade art purchased from Etsy. I went for the open, floating frame look here, as well.

Guestroom revamp - full bed & wall view - This is our Bliss I am so pleased with the outcome! Here’s to hoping our family & friends will enjoy the new space when they are here for overnight visits. Fingers crossed!

Now, if only our master bedroom was this finished 🙂 I can’t even go there right now because I have GOT to start focusing on our basement project… no more bedrooms for awhile!

Last, but not least, you must take a few minutes and see the other ORC room reveals – seriously, you MUST! The design participant reveals are here and the other linking participants, like me, can be found here! Absolutely jaw-dropping transformations. A-MAZING job, everyone – congratulations!
