Sophisticated Neutral Nursery: DIY Closet Progress | Spring 2018 ORC Week 4

Where did the month of April go? And what about last week?! It blew past me so fast I didn’t even get my One Room Challenge Week 4 update post published! I’m popping in today to give you an ultra quick sneak peek of the Sophisticated Neutral Nursery DIY Closet progress so far! Similar to the littlest’s nursery closet [part 1 & part 2], I will do follow-up posts detailing the DIY details and another one showcasing all of the organizational planning and pieces that you’ll see in the reveal!

Now that the bones of the closet are in place [thanks to the hours and hours of hard work T and my father-in-law put in] it’s my turn to have at the closet. The next step is my absolute favorite part – the styling!

Before I share a sneak peek of the cute closet accessories I’ve been picking up and stashing away until now, let’s take a look back at the start of the transformation of the closet space over the last few weeks.

Remember the before photos I shared of the closet in when I first introduced the entire future nursery space in Week 1?

…And then the Sophisticated Neutral Nursery Closet mood board I shared in Week 2‘s update?

If I’m able to bring even HALF of this nursery closet vision to life, I’ll be one happy mama!

Then we started to disassemble the closet…

Sherwin Williams African Gray paint went up on the back closet wall during Week 3 and the rest of the room’s walls were painted SW Nuance…all the walls except for the crib wall where we applied wallpaper!

The closet was essentially built around our new changing table and here is what took place in here last week…

Again, I’ll be sharing a FULL tutorial with dimensions, supply sources, etc., but I wanted to show you how fabulous it is now! My in-laws came to visit a couple weekends ago and T and my FIL spent a hefty chunk of time in here on Saturday and Sunday. After all the measuring, cutting, drilling and countless trips to Lowes later, the closet is ready for me to start working some magic!

THE DIY NURSERY CLOSET PLAN

  • Take everything out and transfer must-keep items to the biggest’s room
  • remove wire shelving
  • patch holes and sand
  • paint closet walls
  • install new unit, shelving and rods
  • order changing table
  • assemble changing table and place in closet
  • purchase closet components
  • find baskets & bins for storage and organization
  • accessorize and style the shelves – getting started on this now!
  • fill drawers with itty bitty diapers and all the baby things! – yes!!

The closet has felt like a mini room in the nursery itself because of everything we wanted it to be functionally and aesthetically, but I’m completely thrilled with how much we’ve accomplished!

So now…I’ll leave you with this…

Alllll the deets to come, I promise!
