OUR SIMPLE & ELEGANT CHRISTMAS FAMILY ROOM

Come on in & see more of the heart of our home all dressed for Christmas! I’m joining The Holiday Tour of Homes hosted by 11 Magnolia Lane and Evolution of Style again this year along with 30+ other bloggers. Today, a group of us are sharing our living/family room areas and I can’t want to show you mine.

If you’re coming over from Jen at Stylehouse Interiors, then welcome! Be sure to stick around to check out Amanda from Dixie Delight’s lovely home and all the others, too! I assure you there is more Christmas inspiration than you’ll know what to do with!

OUR NEW FLOCKED CHRISTMAS TREE

If this was the only thing I put in this room, my Christmas heart would have still been happy!

I’ve wanted a flocked tree for as long as I can remember, so when I found this one on sale back in November, I couldn’t NOT pull the trigger on it. It’s full and snowy white and literally glows in the room!

I decided to add even more light strands for that extra glow, but it absolutely could’ve been left alone! Normally, I love a tree filled to the brim with ornaments, ribbon & tree picks, but scaling back on my ornaments a bit this year felt so nice!

The flocked tree was so beautiful without anything on it at all, I almost couldn’t bring myself to add ornaments! I let it sit bare after we put it up for several days, but then finally grabbed my ornament storage bin and carefully edited what would go on.

Metallic ball ornaments, my favorite white crepe paper fringe garland, some white & gold tree picks, 8 black ornaments [yes, exactly 8 ;)] and a simple black satin ribbon bow on top and she felt complete.

It’s a little hard to see but it’s my first time using a tree collar & I love the look! We typically use a tree skirt on both our Family RoomLiving Room Christmas Trees, but when I found a simple woven collar on clearance at Lowe’s last year, I couldn’t pass it up.

I gave it the gold treatment with a couple coats of spray paint and put it on the tree.

I’m not sure how or why, but Winston has only touched the tree once since its been up. For an 18 month old to keep his hands off all “mommy’s pretties” on the tree is beyond me. Maybe the bigs had a little chat with him.

They’ve figured out how to keep their hands off over the years, too 😉

MORE GREEN VELVET PILLOWS FOR THE WIN

These are the same pillows from our Christmas Living Room. I ordered 3 packs [2 covers per set] and love how they look on these chairs along the window wall in the Family Room.

I only invested in substantial holiday basics this year that can be used over & over again each holiday season. The pillow covers, pre-lit garland on the staircase & these outdoor faux planters.

The covers can easily be removed for washing & storing so all you need is to pop in inserts from other pillows!

But I think these green beauties will be staying out long after the Christmas decor is packed up. They are definitely multi-seasonal and so affordable at only $6 each!

A MANTEL WITH FRESH GARLAND, MINI TREE COLLECTION & SATIN BOWS

A Fresh Christmas Mantel with Tree Collection - Simple and classic Christmas Mantel with Satin Ribbon Bows - This is our Bliss

I shared an entire post with my step-by-step process for how I decorated our mantel. I fell in love with the bows on the stockings that I decided to use the same ribbon on the staircase in the Living Room, on my gift boxes & even on the top of the tree!

The trees are nestled in the fresh garland from Trader Joe’s and then topped with snow fluff & twinkle lights!

We turn the fireplace on every day in the winter and I can’t help but sit back & swoon from the couch with this view in front of me.

FAMILY ROOM VIEW FROM THE KITCHEN

I have to admit, I love this view equally from the kitchen as well. We have an open-concept main floor which is like having a kitchen & family room in one. I love being able to see the 3 boys while they play when I’m in the kitchen getting dinner ready.

We get to enjoy the Christmas tree and cozy fire from the kitchen and eating area, too!

I’m big on simple Christmas “moments” this year, so I added a cloche & candle to the kitchen table. You can see our Christmas Kitchen from last year with our Simple Hot Cocoa Bar set-up here!

My dad is an artist & over the years always made these beautifully hand-painted old-fashioned clay Santas. I always admired my mom’s collection of my Dad’s Santas & in 2013 he gifted one to me for my own home.

It is so special to me!

This year, I decided it’d be nice to enjoy it as a centerpiece instead of tucked away on the bookshelf.

The boy’s love seeing “Papa’s Santa” on the table, too!

I’m really loving the paired down version of my normally maxed out decorated spaces.

It’s definitely going to make for an easier clean-up in January, too! I’m not hosting this year, but I admit, I have the urge to set a simple table, so I might be back with one more peek into our dining room.

And if not, I’ve still got plenty of Christmas inspiration coming your way the rest of the month!
