A Little of This + A Little Bit of Bliss Vol. 5 [February Happenings + An Announcement!]

Hi, all! How are we 3 days into the month of March already??! February always tends to be a busy one around our house, so I thought I would share a little bit about what we were up to and why I wasn’t hanging out more here with all of you + an exciting announcement at the end!

T and I took off for our annual Cancun trip mid-month and this year, I got to celebrate my birthday while in the sunshine! We’ve been on this trip with T’s company for 8 years now, but this was the first year that my birthday fell during the trip! Missing the cupid-baby cut off by one day, I’ve become accustomed to celebrating my birthday in the cold and snow growing up and living in the Midwest.

So this year, being on the trip over the 15th was icing on the cake. If I have to add another tally to that thirty-something count, then I surely want to do it poolside with a tropical drink in hand. Can you blame me!?

After coming home and reuniting with the littles, my parents spent a few days here celebrating my birthday and hanging out for a bit before returning back to Arizona. We had a nice dinner at home on Friday night and even sat in the dining room [my dad’s idea, actually!] It was so nice to be able to sit, eat and enjoy our new space, especially after not hosting anything during the holidays last year. That table was begging to be dined on!

Saturday night we ate out and shared a toast to my grandma in honor of the one year mark of her passing. Cheers to celebrating birthdays, life and love with special people!

Last week, we registered the biggest for Kindergarten. Yes, KINDERGARTEN! What the what?!! I’m sure I’m not the only mom who feels it is completely and utterly impossible to be sending the oldest off to elementary school. He, however, is ready to roll and already rehearsing what he’s going to say to his teachers and classmates when he meets them on the first day of school HA! That same weekend, we also attended a wedding and danced the night away.  I always enjoy getting dolled up and celebrating with the newlyweds on their special day!

Several inquiring minds wanted to know where I got my dress when I posted this pic on my personal Facebook page, so I thought I’d share the details with you, too! You can find my dress here and it comes in 2 colors. I, of course, went with black 😉

As for house projects, it was pretty quiet around here which was actually really nice after wrapping up the 4 week New Year New Room Refresh in January!

Cranking out a room in a month was thrilling AND exhausting, so it was nice to take some time to relax and recoup afterwards.

There are a few small projects in the works for Spring, so I’ll be sharing the scoop on those very soon! In the meantime, you’ll see me sharing more follow-up posts of DIY projects from the One Room Challenge Dining Room and even the Big Boy Room Reveal, both last fall.

Ok…now time for this…announcement! I am beyond thrilled to share with you that I’ll be joining the brand new Polished Habitat Contributor Team! Woo hoo!  I feel so fortunate to have been selected and can’t wait to share some of my styling tips and tricks over at Polished Habitat throughout this year! Melissa’s style is chic and glam and she also has a knack for keeping her home in tip-top organizational shape. She has truly mastered how to create a stylish, functional POLISHED HABITAT and I’ve been a HUGE admirer of hers for years now. Joining forces with her on the new team is truly a dream come true! You can see Melissa’s post here when she made her announcement and introduced us all to her readers.

Here’s how it will work, on my go-live dates on her site, I’ll be popping in over here to let you know to head over to her site to check out what I’m sharing that day. Melissa also has some creatively awesome ideas in the works for team challenges and Q&A posts throughout the year, so I’ll be sure to let you know when those are happening as well!

Now, for my SECOND announcement! I’m going to have a first-time guest writer over HERE on Monday. Yes, my friend Jessica from The Organized Mama is going to be stopping by to share some of her fabulous organizational wisdom with all of us! She’s a fellow Chicago-land mom of 2 who loves to create, craft and decorate while sharing simple tips and tricks for how to make daily life a wee bit more organized and manageable. Be sure to stop back by to meet Jessica and take a few notes next week!

Well, this sure did end up being one of the most random posts ever, but it was sort of fun…What do you think?!

And that, my friends, is all for today! Enjoy your weekend!
