How to Do a Mini Spring Refresh in the Bedroom

How to do a Mini Spring Refresh in the Bedroom - Bedroom styling - how to style a nightstand - This is our Bliss

I’ll admit, I’m in full-blown Spring mode over here! I said Spring Fever hit last week when I shared our Spring Entryway and with all the Easter eggs I’ve been crafting, I’d say Spring is in the house [but unfortunately still not in the air!]. One area I rarely decorate as the seasons change is our Master Bedroom. But something about the thought of giving our bedroom a mini Spring refresh sounded so nice! I didn’t want to spend much, so after scouring the stores and internet, I landed on a vision. Today, I’m sharing how to do a mini Spring Refresh in the Bedroom with just 3 things and for under $50!

Today is Day 3 of the Seasonal Simplicity Spring Home Tours!! If you’re coming over from Paint Me Pink, then welcome! Aren’t all of Norma’s spaces so incredibly light and airy and GORGEOUS!? So refreshing for Spring.

And a mini Spring refresh was exactly what our bedroom was calling for!

HOW TO DO A MINI SPRING REFRESH IN THE BEDROOM

ELEMENT #1: DUVET COVER + PILLOW SHAMS

We always have a white comforter or duvet on our bed. And with our wallpaper accent wall, it helps keep the room from feeling too heavy and overwhelming. Since I am not one to shy away from patterns on patterns on patterns, when I spotted this abstract dot print duvet set, I knew I had to have it.

The scale of the pattern is small which is a nice contrast with the large scale of the wallpaper.

And the color palette is so pretty!

I was initially drawn to the blush pink, but the combination of coral, shades of gray, tan and black with a touch of light blue completely stole my heart. I went to my local IKEA store to pick up the bedding set only to find out they were sold out of the King size. The second I got home, I hopped online to order it. Shipping was fairly inexpensive and with such an affordable price of the duvet cover, I didn’t mind at all. Especially if it would land on my front porch and eventually make it’s way to the bed in just a few days!

Takeaway: Find a lightweight, inexpensive duvet to give your bed a Spring-y pop of color.

ELEMENT #2: THROW PILLOWS

The second item I added as part of the mini Spring refresh in the bedroom was two blush pink faux Mongolian fur pillows [similar pillows here]. I tend to think of adding these cozy, furry pillows around the house for winter, but something about the pale pink screamed Spring to me. And the $6.48 clearance sticker didn’t hurt either!

Takeaway: Add 1, 2 or 3 throw pillows in a coordinating color to give the bed a new look. Bonus points if you’ll be able to use the pillows on your sofa or other beds in the house throughout the year.

ELEMENT #3: VASE OF FLOWERS

Lastly, I placed a vase of fresh white tulips with a few hypericum stems mixed in onto the nightstand. I don’t always have fresh flowers on my nightstand, but when I do, it sure is wonderful!

I initially wanted to find coral tulips, but Trader Joes only had a hot pink or yellow option. I ended up spotting one sleeve of white tulips hidden in the back and then I  scooped up the little berries for $2.99.

Aren’t they just the perfect pop of coral?!

Takeaway: Whether you enjoy fresh flowers or prefer some nice faux ones. Adding some life to your bedside table is a good idea. Try a faux plant if you don’t want take on the chore of keeping it alive 🙂

Three simple touches of Spring in the Master and all three make me so happy! The pillows will surely make it in the constant rotation around the house and the duvet is going to stay on for the forseeable future! If and when I want to put it away for awhile, it will wash up and fold away nicely since it’s not a bulky comforter. Duvet covers are so much easier to store and hardly take up any space in the linen closet.
