Bright, White and Bold Kitchen Revamp Reveal Part 2

I am happy to report our Kitchen Revamp is complete! Remember back in January when I spruced up our kitchen in 4 weeks for the New Year New Room Challenge? Well, I could only call it about 90% done because we were missing a key element – lighting. Things were on track and on schedule to be done at the end of the month except the lights I had my eyes on were back-ordered. I decided to reveal the Kitchen without the new lights with the rest of the participants assuming the lights would be in soon for me to share with you guys in the Bright, White and Bold Kitchen Revamp Reveal Part 2

Well, that day is today, but we’re just about 6 months later than I had hoped! So, here is our refreshed kitchen [again], but this time with some pretty fabulous lighting.

Like in any good reveal, I want to show you the before of our kitchen.

KITCHEN REVEAL PART 2

90's oak KITCHEN BEFORE!!

Yikes!! Those cabinets and that big, blinding fluorescent light box over the island!

And then here is the light over the kitchen table.

And now?

Go ahead and have a look for yourself.

When we decided to refresh our 90’s kitchen we knew it would be just that…a refresh. So after some paint on the cabinets [Benjamin Moore Simply White on the upper cabinets and Benjamin Moore Hunter Green on the kitchen island], new cabinet hardware, updated tile backsplash, some art, rugs and new kitchen table chairs, the only thing missing were the lights.

The pendants over the island and a chandelier swap over the kitchen table are now the focal points of the kitchen.

Thankfully, the pendants arrived before the table light so we were finally able to say goodbye to our big boxy fluorescent light.

And then around the same time baby #3 arrived, I got shipping notification for the big light…an email I had been anxiously awaiting for months!

We got home from the hospital and when things settled down a bit, our electrician came over to install it. The light is big and when I say big, I actually mean massive so it was most definitely a 2 person job.

I wanted bold statement lighting and I most certainly have it now. It is large, sculptural and beautiful. And it has the perfect amount of gold peeking out through the dark metal, geometric exterior.

And as for our green island, I’m still thrilled I decided to go bold and colorful. I love a neutral space as much as anyone, but there was something telling me to go and do something different. Green was what I was in the mood for and since it’s just paint, I thought why not?!!

See my post here on how we decided on our kitchen cabinet paint colors.

So what do you guys think? Were the lights worth the wait? I’m obsessed and I hope you love them, too! If you missed the Kitchen Reveal Part 1, head over and see all of the before during and after pictures of our one month revamp back in January.

Here are a few of my favorite shots…

So like I said, our kitchen is finally done and we were able to achieve this new look without ripping out the cabinets or knocking down any walls!

The power of white paint and a few additional updates is truly incredible.

I even love the new view overlooking the family room.

Now that this project is officially checked off the list since it’s now on the blog, I can start working my way around the house on the rest of the rooms I want to tackle this year. But let’s be honest, the biggest goes back to school next week, but the middle little doesn’t go for 2 weeks. Oh and we have an infant!

Soooo I’m going to chip away little by little this Fall in between baby snuggles and naps because boy, am I tired after this summer!
